Matthew P. Keating, born
March 13, 1980, graduated from
Louisiana State University in 2003
with a B.S. degree in Business
Management. He graduated from
South Texas College of Law in 2006
ranked in the top 15% of his class,
where he was a member of the Phi
Delta Phi Honors Fraternity, and
received the American Jurisprudence
Award for excellence in the study of
Insurance Law.
He began his practice at the
Houston insurance defense litigation
firm of Wheat, Oppermann & Meeks
in 2006, before joining the firm in

Lake Charles in February 2007 as an
associate. The focus of Matt’s practice
continues to be primarily insurance
defense litigation.
He is a member of the
Southwest Louisiana, Louisiana State,
Texas State and American Bar
Associations, the Louisiana
Association of Defense Counsel, and
the Defense Research Institute, and
is admitted to practice in all the state
courts of Louisiana and Texas, the
United States District Court for the
Western District of Louisiana, and
the United States Court of Appeals
for the Fifth Circuit.
